#WCW: Producer & Director, Malakai Johnson

Woman crushes, we all have them. To inspire you, we use our Wednesdays to interview women we admire and share their amazing stories with you. This week we're crushing on Malakai Johnson, a producer and director based out of Phoenix, Arizona.

While looking around on Instagram for artists doing interesting things in her hometown of Phoenix, Liz came across @MadeInHerImageOfficial. She was instantly drawn to the imagery on Malakai's feed and decided to contact her for an interview. Almost immediately upon arriving at Malakai's cute little bungalow in downtown Phoenix, it was obvious she was super woman-crush worthy. Colorful paintings by local artists hang on her walls, her editing space unassuming in the corner of the living room.

Malakai works full-time as a producer and director in both Phoenix and Los Angeles. Her first film, Black Girls Code premiered at Cannes and lead her to festivals all over the world. Despite having a laundry list of accomplishments and accolades Malakai is genuine and makes you want to be her BFF. Her full interview features some amazing advice for female filmmakers. She also talks about her latest project, Made In Her Image, which, given Malakai's track record, will prove to be another smashing success.
