Record number of women on Grierson shortlist

Women in documentary just broke a really cool record. For the first time ever a total of 52 women made the shortlist for the annual British Documentary Awards. The number increased with 16 names from the previous year and makes the shortlist almost 50/50 men/women.

Amongst the nominees are some of our personal favorites. Lotje Sodderland (see photo) and Sophie Robinson made the list with My Beautiful Broken Brain (which you'll have to watch on Netflix if you haven't yet!) and Pamela Gordon is being considered for her documentary series Dementiaville. The categories Best Documentary Series and Best Constructed Documentary Series are dominated by women.
